Tenby

Tendy Fecci's Icecream

Tenby is a beautiful harbour town and seaside resort in Pembrokeshire, Wales. Victorian townhouses painted in pastel colours are a picturesque backdrop to the clean golden sand beaches.  The beaches in Tenby are divided into North and South with the harbour and headland splitting the two. We parked at a pay and display where we got 4 hours for £3. Expensive? Yeah, a bit. But with the centre of the town restricted to permit parking, there was no other choice. However, the car park is right on the beach and if you had to lug wind breakers and inflatables to the beach then you’ll gladly pay the fee.

There are numerous car parks throughout the town. We parked at the pay and display on South Beach as this is the closest to the beach and the most convenient. We paid £3 for 4 hours but this car park is right on the beach and if you need to lug wind breakers, inflatables and all the other beach paraphernalia to the beach then it is worth it.

Dogs are only permitted on south beach and we walked up the beach quite a bit where it was quieter before letting Buddy off his leash. He loved it. There were many other dogs for him to play with and he wasn’t afraid to run into the water.

In the town centre, there are”traditional seaside” gift shops selling beach toys and souvenirs. The town itself is home to many restaurants, shops, cafes and pubs all linked by cobbled streets and, surprisingly, many are dog-friendly. We had lunch sitting outside the Hope and Anchor where they sell local ales and seafood. Ordered and paid at the bar and the food arrived quickly. Perfect for a family and a bored dog.

Any trip to Tenby when the sun is shining deserves an ice cream and there is no better place to get one than Fecci on St. Georges Street. For the best fish and chips I’ve had in a long time, head to Park Road Fish and Chips next to Sainsbury’s and the multistorey.

We stayed in Lydstep, just outside Tenby, in a cottage called Westhills courtesy of Coastal Cottages. Tenby is an attractive destination for young families and especially those with four legged friends. We loved it and will definitely return.
