The World Turned Upside Down Reading

The World Turned Upside Down has recently celebrated its
first birthday since reopening with a whole new look and menu. We were invited to the pub to sample the delicious new menu and experience what The World Turned Upside Down has to offer.

The World Turned Upside Down in Reading is the perfect place to feel relaxed with kids, we were surrounded by other families, all making the most of the opportunity to have a meal out.   I’ve posted before about carvery lunches with kids and the logistics of queueing to have your plate filled. We were better prepared this time. We made a reservation for 12:30 and arrived at bang on 12:30. This gave us half an hour head start on the Sunday lunch and meant that we didn’t have to queue for anything.

The World Turned Upside Down has something for all the family – from slow cooked and freshly carved roasts to tasty pub food classics such as hand battered fish and steak and ale pie. Every day, The World Turned Upside Down makes their own fresh dough so you can tuck into freshly made stone baked pizzas and garlic bread. Unfortunately for us, the oven had broken down and getting someone to fix it on Sunday is a bit of an ask. So we had a disappointed 4-year-old but we’ll come back for pizza when it’s fixed.

Leela was the carver for our visit and he entertained the kids in a friendly manner. There was banter with my 11-year-old over the number of Yorkshire puddings she could eat. All main courses come with unlimited veg, salad and sides. which is great when the little ones ask for random things like a sausage and cucumber slices with their fish fingers.
