Great British Racing, the promotional arm of horseracing in Britain, has launched a summer campaign to showcase that a day at the races
is completely free of charge for under 18s at almost every racecourse on almost every day.
We spent a cost-effective day out with the kids in the fresh air at Royal Windsor Racecourse. Like many of the racecourses, Royal Windsor put on an incredible range of extra activities. From fairground rides and character visits to pony rides and sports classes. All of which take place alongside a brilliant backdrop of horseracing, which makes for a really unique and special day out.
All of this is detailed in an engaging new website StirrUpSummer.com – which has been designed to make it easier, and more fun, for families and young people to find out about a day at the races and what is on near them, featuring content created by campaign ambassador and mum of three, Sara Cox.
There is so much going on to keep the kids entertained. There were pony rides, face painting, bouncy castles and a bouncy castle assault course, as well as funfair attractions but I think the kids were more interested in the ice cream, the mascots and the racing! If you haven’t been along to the races as a family I’d really hope that you’ll be very pleasantly surprised.
